The European Union wants to become less dependent on the import of protein-rich crops and become more self-sufficient. Re-discovering the power of protein crops like fava, and transforming them to tasty products for human consumption, is one of Foodvalley’s Protein Shift key-topics. Jeroen Willemsen explains why Foodvalley NL was chosen to lead this important Fava beans pilot.
In this Pilot Case in the CO-FRESH consortium, Foodvalley NL supported by Wageningen University & Research, has brought together nine key actors in the Dutch fava bean value chain: Agriservice Lindenhols, Louis Bolk Instituut, KeyGene, Meelunie B.V., Multiflour, MFH-Pulses, Ojah b.v., Codrico Rotterdam BV and Michael Luesink van Boon foodconcepts.
